Got this from another site but this is a must read. If there is any truth to this then player beware. Not trying to steal someone's work just thought everyone should know.
OK gentlemen, I gave my word I'd go into more detail regarding how player ratings work when I got a chance and have a few hours before work this morning. I obviously do a large amount of my playing online and have been pretty active in the poker community(travelling tourneys and the like) for some time as many of you know, so here comes a brief description:
It's common sense that you want as many players playing as you can hence having more games to draw rake from, so certain sites simply aid the process. In real life lets say you have 50 players with a comparable bankroll, in the end the top percentage of these players will eventually eliminate the others thus lessening the playing pool(granted newbies will always be coming in and out). What player ratings do is let lesser players recoup some of their losses at the expense of those ahead of the game. There was an extremely good site on this which I was trying to find the link for, and I don't know if it was shut down or paid off or what, so am just going on all I've read/had told to me/seen.
At the beginning I'm to gather you're rated relatively high, but lets say you win a lot right at the onset. The system would then give you a rating of say "2," which leaves you open to many of those beats which are certainly part of the game, but definitely not to the extent that many of you have claimed to have experienced. Could go into countless examples, but I think you're getting the picture. This might help explain to many of you how you started so well only to run into countless two outers over and over again(such as at places that advertise at virtually every sportsbook site, something I do think was a smart move as far as where to market is concerned to their credit).
Won't go into the open use of bots and prop players that this certain site uses also as I don't want this thread to wind up missing as well as I truly am trying to give back in the poker forum, but just be careful in where you choose to play and ask around to be sure
